5 October 2026, Images from an elderly and dependent-patient care center have sparked concern after metal cages were found installed around several beds, with authorities now examining the facility. The woman appeared on the Thai TV program Hone Krasae seeking help, alleging that her son and daughter-in-law had taken her to an elderly care center against her will, where she remained for more than two and a half years. She alleged that she had been assaulted, threatened and forced to take medication before secretly contacting her sister for help to leave the facility. Following the complaint, officers from the Central Investigation Bureau visited the care center together with the Hone Krasae team. Authorities reportedly found metal fencing resembling cages installed around parts of the facility, including fencing outside the building and around residential areas. Concertina razor wire was also reportedly attached to some of the fences. The most disturbing finding was inside rooms where several elderly people and dependent patients were staying. Metal cages had reportedly been installed around and secured to some of the beds. The images have raised questions about the conditions at the facility and why the metal structures were installed. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances and determine whether any laws were violated.
