Onutin Warns of Foul Water in Prachinburi Chachoengsao Urges Vigilance
Onutin Charnvirakul warned that floodwaters in Prachinburi, Chachoengsao and several other provinces are turning foul and urged vigilance during a ten‑day danger period for heavy rain. He said over 600 households have already received relief payments and called for streamlined assistance through the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department. Officials must prepare for southern‑region risks, conduct big‑clean‑up operations, and ensure no gaps in aid delivery.
Onutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, presided over the seventh consecutive meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center on October 6, 2026, to review flood relief operations. He noted that while many situations have eased, water in Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, and several other districts remains stagnant and is beginning to smell foul, requiring full‑scale provincial mobilization. Areas such as Bang Ban in Ayutthaya, Ban Sang in Prachinburi, Bang Kla and Bang Nam Piao in Chachoengsao, Ongkharak in Nakhon Nayok, Bang Pla Ma and Song Phi Nong in Suphan Buri continue to report persistent flooding, with some roads cut off. Onutin stressed that even though media attention has waned compared to Bangkok floods, authorities must stay vigilant, closely monitor vulnerable communities, and ensure timely evacuations and adequate shelter supplies. He cited the Samut Songkhram governor’s proper handling of public concerns as an example of effective communication and inter‑agency coordination. Looking ahead, he urged preparation for the southern region, designating October 4‑14 as the ten‑day danger period for heavy rain, and called for constant updates from the Meteorological Department and the DDPM, with clear, attention‑grabbing messaging to prevent complacency. Onutin also highlighted the need for post‑flood clean‑up operations—big cleaning of public spaces, sidewalks, and large debris such as mattresses, sofas, and wooden furniture—requiring trucks and loaders to restore traffic flow. He directed officials to facilitate any assistance requests from the public to the fullest extent possible.
