Elderly Couple Dies in House Fire While Lying in Bed
An elderly couple died in a house fire while lying in bed in Saraburi Province’s Nong Khae district. Their son discovered the bodies and found a 15‑kilogram gas cylinder beside the bed. Police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
On September 9, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Sittipong Sri‑on of Nong Khae Police Station received a report of a house fire in Khok Tum sub‑district, Nong Khae district. Firefighters from the Khok Tum Sub‑district Municipality and volunteers from the Sawang Rattanathirat Thammasathan Foundation Saraburi rushed to the scene, extinguished the blaze, and entered the single‑story detached home. Inside, they found the couple’s bodies on the bed, severely burned and blistered, while household items were destroyed. A 15‑kilogram gas cylinder was found standing near the bed. Neighbors said they saw smoke, alerted the son, and helped fight the fire; one neighbor shut off the gas cylinder and moved it outside to prevent an explosion. The son said he usually visits his parents only once or twice a month and believed they had health issues; he had asked for forgiveness and hoped to be reunited in the next life. The daughter‑in‑law said both parents had been ill for a long time, with the mother bedridden.
