Timor-Leste PM Visits Thailand and Signs Agreements After ASEAN Entry
Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Timor-Leste Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao for an official visit on 9 October 2026. The meeting marked the first Timor-Leste prime ministerial visit to Thailand in 13 years and the first since Timor-Leste joined ASEAN. The leaders signed agreements, exchanged memoranda of understanding, and held a joint press conference before a luncheon hosted by Anutin.
Anutin Charnvirakul welcomed Timor-Leste Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao at the Government House. They inspected the honor guard on the lawn in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building, took photos together on the central hall staircase, signed the guest book, and exchanged souvenirs. The leaders then held a full cabinet meeting in the Green Room, witnessed the signing of agreements and the exchange of memoranda of understanding, and gave a joint press conference in the central hall of the Thai Khu Fah Building. Anutin hosted a luncheon in honor of the Timor-Leste prime minister. This visit was the first official Timor-Leste prime ministerial visit to Thailand in 13 years, since 2013, and the first after Timor-Leste became an ASEAN member in October 2025.
