Electrical Plug Fault Causes Fire at Bang Lamung Police Station
An electrical fault sparked a fire that gutted two investigation rooms at Bang Lamung Police Station in Chonburi, destroying four laptops and physical case evidence. Forensic teams are investigating, but the station commander says the loss will not hinder prosecutions because some evidence survives and other records were stored digitally. The station remains open for public services.
A fire caused by an electrical plug left plugged in heavily damaged two investigation rooms on the second floor of Bang Lamung Police Station in Chonburi, destroying equipment and case evidence. The blaze broke out in the evening and gutted two rooms housing seven investigators, ruining four laptops and physical case files. Heat and sparks also damaged the hallway balcony and nearly the entire second-floor wiring. Despite the damage, the station continues normal public services.
On November 6, Pol. Lt. Col. Chatree Sukhiri, superintendent of Chonburi Provincial Police, inspected the scene with Forensic Science Division 2 officers to determine the cause. Preliminary findings point to an electrical plug left inserted in a socket. Regarding the damaged evidence, the commander said he is not concerned because some items can still be used for prosecution and others were backed up on computers.
