Alumni from Kasetsart University's Class of 1988 (KU 31) and current students have combined efforts to donate funds supporting the university's Medical Park project, designed to elevate Thailand's healthcare system. The university's acting rector, Dr. Damrong Sriphraram, received a donation of 224,269 baht during a ceremony on June 25, 2025, at the university's administrative office. This contribution supports the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Kasetsart Hospital under the Medical Park initiative. Since 2023, the KU 31 alumni group has donated a cumulative 5.06 million baht across four installments. Additionally, Nantarat Jinakanj, a fourth-year architecture student (KU 83), contributed 50,000 baht.

The Medical Park project aims to develop a comprehensive medical education, research, and innovation ecosystem, with the first phase running from 2025 to 2029 and budgeted at over 8.863 billion baht. The hospital will serve as a hub for healthcare delivery and workforce development rooted in agro-medicine and bio-innovation, addressing Thailand's future medical personnel needs. The project reflects the government's commitment to strengthening the nation's long-term public health foundation.

Kasetsart University views each donor's contribution as essential momentum for building a world-class medical institution that will care for public health and serve society sustainably. The university welcomes further donations through its e-Donation platform or Punboon website, with contributions eligible for double tax deduction under a Cabinet resolution from June 16, 2025, through December 31, 2027.

The discovery was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Pannida Khunnaamvong, Honorary Professor Dr. Sawittri Limtong, Associate Professor Dr. Nantana Sisukhom, and graduate student Pajongvon Gangprakan from the Department of Microbiology at Kasetsart University's Faculty of Science, supported by research funding from the National Research Council of Thailand.

The new yeast species was discovered on the leaf surface of small-fruited mangrove trees (Rhizophora apiculata) at Rajiv Gardens Mangrove Botanical Park in Chanthaburi Province, one of Thailand's most important ecosystems for maintaining natural balance and a rich repository of the country's biodiversity. From 20 samples collected at the botanical park, researchers isolated 242 yeast strains, demonstrating the remarkable abundance of microorganisms in nature. Though microscopic and invisible to the naked eye, these organisms are essential components of ecosystems and may hold knowledge that could lead to future innovations.

Molecular analysis of the yeast's nucleotide sequences revealed that most strains were known species. However, strain DMKU-RG45 possessed a unique genetic signature that did not match any previously identified yeast species globally. After further study using polyphasic taxonomy—which examines morphological, biochemical, physiological, and genetic characteristics—researchers confirmed that DMKU-RG45 represents a new yeast species.

The research team named the species "sirindhorniae" after Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, with royal permission to use her name as the species designation. This naming honors her 70th birthday celebration and recognizes her significant role in promoting education and conservation of Thailand's natural resources and biological diversity.

Beyond its academic significance, the discovery of "Sirindhorniae" yeast demonstrates the hidden value of Thailand's natural ecosystems, which may serve as sources of knowledge and biological resources for future human benefit. The research found that this new yeast species can utilize various carbon sources and ferment alcohol from glucose. However, researchers are continuing to study additional properties to evaluate its potential applications.

However, gaps remain in public understanding. The NHSO plans to strengthen multi-channel communication using digital platforms, phone lines, social media, mainstream media, and local outreach to reach diverse audiences. On June 30, Lieutenant Colonel Kriang Kaew Gaeo Mani, deputy commander of Ratsanvapi Police Station, responded to reports of assault at a house in Ban Nang village, Phra Bat Na Singh subdistrict, Ratsanvapi district, Nong Khai province. Officers found the homeowner, 58-year-old Khan Janpimpa, with a severe head wound. He was dazed but conscious and was taken to Ratsanvapi Hospital.

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Kampanart Janpimpa, Khan's son. After fleeing the house on his motorcycle, police discovered a bloody claw hammer left behind the house, which was collected as evidence. Officers tracked him to his father-in-law's house in Dong Tarn Village, where they found Kampanart sleeping. He was taken into custody at the station.

Investigation revealed that Kampanart had been using drugs and hadn't slept for two days. On the day of the incident, he became delirious and quarreled with his wife while holding the hammer. When Khan saw the danger and tried to stop his son from harming his daughter-in-law, Kampanart struck him on the head instead. After the attack, Kampanart rode to his father-in-law's house to resolve family problems but fell asleep before police apprehended him.

He was charged with assault causing serious bodily injury to a parent and is being processed according to the law.

Most crops nationwide are in growth stages requiring adequate water. The Central Region has rice in seedling and tillering phases, sugarcane in tillering and stem extension, and cassava in canopy development. Northern rice is being prepared for planting, corn is in early planting to flowering stages. Eastern rice is in land preparation to seedling phases, cassava in canopy development. Northeast rice is in transplanting to seedling stages, sugarcane in stem extension. Southern rice is in seedling to tillering phases, cassava in root and growth development.

Reservoirs and dams require significant water replenishment, with usage at less than 30 percent capacity. The three new operations target: the Nakhon Sawan operation supporting rice-growing areas outside irrigation zones in Tha Tak, Phaisali, and Nong Bua districts, plus western and eastern agricultural zones; and combined Buriram-Ubon Ratchathani operations supporting rice areas in Sisaket Province's Wang Hin, Prang Ku, Phrai Bueng, Phyu, and Chaturphak Triphiman districts, plus Roi Et Province's Tung Kula Ronghai region.

Withaya emphasized that all cloud-seeding units must plan interventions before agricultural damage occurs, analyzing water requirements by crop type and weather conditions for maximum efficiency. The department has personnel, aircraft, equipment, and can adjust operations to suit conditions. Currently five operations are active in Tak, Nakhon Ratchasima, Sa Kaew, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Khon Kaen provinces. Yesterday's operations brought rain to agricultural areas across 16 provinces and replenished seven major dams and 13 smaller reservoirs. The public can follow updates on the department's Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok pages, or request services at eight nationwide cloud-seeding centers.
