A wooden house in Saraphi district, Chiang Mai was completely destroyed by fire on Thursday, with electrical short circuit suspected as the cause. The occupants escaped without injury.
Police at Saraphi Police Station received the alarm around 11:30 a.m. for a fire in Yang Noeng subdistrict. Firefighters from Yang Noeng and Ku Suea subdistrict municipalities responded quickly to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found flames rapidly engulfing the roof of the house with thick smoke visible. Local residents quickly evacuated, taking what belongings they could. It took firefighters approximately one hour to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes.
The house, owned by 69-year-old Boonma Chitban, was completely destroyed. Preliminary property damage estimates reached around 800,000 baht, and the house was uninsured. No injuries were reported.
Witnesses and the homeowner believe an electrical short circuit caused the fire. A family member recounted that he was working across the road while his father was in the garden. His mother was inside when she spotted smoke and alerted the family, allowing both parents to escape safely.
