Firefighters from Bang Khon Police Station in Samut Songkhram Province responded to a report of a two-story traditional Thai wooden house on fire in Yai Phaeng Subdistrict on September 12. Six fire trucks from nearby municipalities and rescue volunteers mobilized to fight the blaze, which spread rapidly through the wooden structure despite the pouring rain. Firefighters took approximately one hour to contain the fire, but the entire house was destroyed.
The owner, Khosit (surname withheld), 48, said he had gone to bed around 3 p.m., earlier than usual because he felt unusually sleepy. Around 4 p.m., his mother woke him up, saying she had heard an explosion-like sound and discovered smoke. When he came out, the fire had already spread severely. He observed the fire originating from the office area, which contained a computer, UPS power backup system, and various equipment, but investigators have not yet confirmed which device caused the fire. Khosit managed to escape and rescue his dog, with three people in the house at the time.
The owner described the house as a two-story Thai structure with two bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper floor. Once ignited, the fire spread rapidly through the interconnected rooms. Khosit expressed regret that had he not fallen asleep early, he might have noticed the fire sooner and prevented the damage. His mother is safe and staying at a neighbor's house. Police will coordinate with forensic experts to conduct a detailed investigation of the fire's origin and assess the total damage.
