Thailand Fighting Games Team Advances to Asian Games Quarterfinals
Thailand's fighting games team won its group at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, defeating Pakistan and Syria while competing in Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and The King of Fighters XV.
Thailand's fighting games team booked its place in the semifinals of the 2026 Asian Games in Japan following an outstanding group-stage performance that included claiming the group title. The esports competition at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on September 23 took place at the Aichi Sky Expo. The fighting games event featured Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and The King of Fighters XV, with matches held on the first day of group-stage play.
Thai esports sent three players: Sittha Chanthasriviroch, Napruj Hemmaphon, and Okratat Sumalay. In their first match, Thailand's fighting games team defeated Pakistan 3-1. In the second match, they fell to Chinese Taipei 2-3, but bounced back in their final match to defeat Syria 3-0.
With this result, Thailand advanced to the semifinals as Group A champions and will compete again on September 25.
