Fishing Boat Sinks Off Satahip; 3 Dead, 4 Missing
A fishing boat with 22 crew members sank off Satahip in Chachoengsao on September 21, leaving three dead and four missing despite rescue efforts that saved 15 sailors.
The fishing vessel Kanjanawaree 888 sank in the Samet Channel off Satahip district, Chachoengsao province on the evening of September 21. The local fishing association was notified around 5 a.m. on September 22. Nearby fishing boats responded immediately and rescued 15 of the 22 crew members. Three deaths have been confirmed so far, with four crew members still missing. The vessel carried two Thai nationals and 20 Myanmar nationals.
Survivors are being transported back to shore, with an estimated arrival time of 3 p.m. One body has been recovered, identified as 46-year-old Vicharn Maiyang, while two other bodies remain aboard due to rough sea conditions. The Royal Thai Navy Region 1 has deployed patrol boat 112 and a submarine suppression helicopter, along with navy personnel, to support search and rescue efforts. Authorities continue to search for the four missing crew members, while the cause of the sinking remains under investigation. The incident occurred at coordinates approximately 40 nautical miles from Lam Pho Chao headland.
