Five Drug Traffickers Sentenced to Death by Supreme Court

On September 7, 2569, Thailand's Supreme Court delivered final judgment in case number Yor.1027/2562 against five defendants: Piyachat, Kritipong, Amporn, Somburan, and Krokoch. All five were charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics, money laundering, and assisting in drug trafficking offenses. The defendants allegedly coordinated their roles: defendant one received and stored methamphetamine and distributed it to buyers; defendants two and three followed defendant one's orders and conducted financial transactions; defendants four and five provided support by using drug proceeds to purchase vehicles in Myanmar to conceal the source of their illicit wealth.

In February 2557, police arrested the network operating along the Thailand-Myanmar-Laos border, seizing approximately 5.2 million methamphetamine tablets and assets worth roughly 100 million baht, including four houses valued at 76 million baht, two condominiums at 3.3 million baht, multiple vehicles including a Toyota Alphard, Porsche Panamera, and Mercedes 220D, motorcycles including a Harley-Davidson and Honda NSX, and other property worth approximately 5 million baht.

The trial court convicted all five and imposed death sentences. The appellate court upheld the verdicts. The Supreme Court found that defendants two and three conspired with defendant one in drug trafficking; defendant four committed money laundering; and defendant five opened a bank account to receive drug proceeds, operating as part of a major trafficking network while attempting to obscure financial trails. The court emphasized that 5.2 million methamphetamine tablets, if distributed into communities, would generate serious crime, economic damage, public health harm, and threaten national security. The Supreme Court upheld the death sentence for all five defendants, rejecting their appeals.
