Death Sentences Handed Down in Former Official's Murder Case
A Prachuap Khiri Khan court sentenced five men to death for the December 2567 murder of former sub-district chief Chaimeht Sittisunitpong, including a former local administrator accused of ordering the killing at his residence.
At 9:00 a.m. on September 24, 2569, the Ratchada Criminal Court delivered its judgment in the case of the murder of Chaimeht Sittisunitpong, a former sub-district chief nicknamed Tong, case number OR 629/2568 prosecuted by the Criminal Division 5 of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The eight defendants were Thanasran Kon (defendant 1), Sakdisit or Toon (defendant 2), Thanaphat or Naew (defendant 3), Aphisit or Bass (defendant 4), Sitthichai or Jim (defendant 5), Pattranon or Off (defendant 6), Sunthon Wilawal or Gothor, former chairman of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Administrative Organization (defendant 7), and Minchayaratchana or May (defendant 8).
The prosecution alleged that on the night of December 11, 2567, Sunthon ordered the other defendants to shoot and kill Chaimeht Sittisunitpong, the former sub-district chief, at Sunthon's residence in Tambon Naimuang, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District. The victim died inside the house.
Naphaphat Anchasanikhom, known as Tong's wife Dej, attended the verdict hearing. The court sentenced Sunthon and four others to death and ordered them to pay 801,400 baht in damages, with the remainder of their sentences to be served as life imprisonment.
