Thai Shotgun Team Heads to Greece for World Championships
Thailand's 26-strong shotgun team departs for the 2026 World Championships in Greece after six months of intensive training, aiming to replicate their previous success of winning five gold medals.
The Thai Shotgun Sports Association has selected 26 male and female athletes to compete in the 2026 Shotgun World Shoot in Greece from September 20 to October 4. The team departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 23 via flight EY407 at 21:00. Team manager Thotphon Hongsanat said the athletes underwent rigorous selection and six months of intensive training covering shooting technique and sports psychology, with professional psychologists providing mental preparation. The association aims for athletes to perform at their best and bring medals back to Thailand, particularly gold, which they won five of in a previous championship. Coach Kachan Chiakchaiwai expressed confidence the team will win medals, noting the Modified Division team and women's divisions have the strongest prospects, with more than half being experienced international competitors who performed well when Thailand hosted in 2023, alongside rising stars supported by the association.
