Floods Damage Thai Factories, Losses Exceed One Billion Baht
The Thai Federation of Industries estimates flood damage to its members at over 1.018 billion baht across Bangkok and 14 other provinces. It has urged the government to adopt six emergency measures to aid affected businesses and workers. The hardest‑hit areas include Samut Prakan’s Bang Phli district and Chonburi’s industrial estates.
The Thai Federation of Industries (FTI) reported that initial flood damage to its members amounts to 1.018 billion baht, affecting Bangkok and its vicinity as well as 14 other provinces. In Bangkok, 16 districts are inundated with 2,261 FTI members located there. Samut Prakan province has six affected districts, especially Bang Phli where water levels remain high and many factories, including those in the Bang Phli Industrial Estate and along the Theparak-Bang Saothong corridor, have suffered; 1,269 FTI members operate in the province. Pathum Thani’s four districts—Mueang Pathum Thani, Khlong Luang, Thanyaburi, and Lam Luk Ka—are flooded, with 681 members facing difficult travel. Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret and Mueang districts have 26 members mostly surrounded by water. Ayutthaya’s six districts show flooding of homes and roads, though FTI members have not yet reported direct impacts, as most are located in Chonburi’s industrial estates. Chonburi province’s ten affected districts cover tourism zones, industrial estates and residential areas; factories in the Amata Nakhon Industrial Estate have been hit, and damage figures are still being confirmed. In Rayong, the Klaeng district is worst hit, with 48 FTI members affected. Nakhon Nayak’s Mueang and Ongkharak districts have seven members in distress, with a severe damage assessment of around 100 million baht. Prachin Buri’s Mueang, Kabin Buri, Prachantakham, Ban Sang and Si Mahaphot districts are mostly residential and agricultural, with 18 FTI companies reporting impact. Kanchanaburi has one affected member, while Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Chanthaburi and Sa Kaeo also show flooded areas, and data collection on member impacts continues. FTI President Pimjai Leeisaranukul said the organization has submitted six urgent proposals to the government seeking measures to support workers, provide financial aid, and assist businesses in recovering from the floods.
