61-Year-Old Woman Drowns While Shrimp Fishing in Lam Takhong Canal

A 61‑year‑old woman drowned while shrimping in a tributary of the Lam Takhong canal in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Si Khiao district on 1 October. On 1 October 2024, rescue volunteers from Nakhon Ratchasima’s Si Khiao district were alerted after a 61‑year‑old woman vanished while shrimping in a Lam Takhong canal tributary near a homestay between Ban Khlong Phai and Ban Nong Bua. Her husband reported hearing her shout, seeing only her hat floating on the water, and calling for help. After an initial search by neighbors and the village head, rescue divers recovered her body from the canal bottom. Police preliminarily suspect she suffered a cramp in the cool water, lost balance, and was overcome by an underwater current. The body was sent to Si Khiao Hospital for forensic examination before being released to her family for religious rites.
