Heavy Rain Warns of Landslides, Flash Floods in Seven Provinces
Thailand’s Department of Mineral Resources warned that heavy rain could cause landslides and flash floods in seven provinces, including Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri and Trang. The agency urged local volunteers to monitor conditions and prepare for possible geo‑hazard incidents. The warning follows a Meteorological Department forecast of heavy rain across northern, central, eastern and upper southern regions.
On 14 October 2026, the Geo‑hazard Operations Centre of the Environmental Geology Division, Department of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, warned of landslide and flash flood dangers due to ongoing heavy rain in landslide‑prone zones. Seven provinces were singled out: Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Trang. The Meteorological Department’s 24‑hour forecast predicts heavy rain in parts of northern, central, eastern and upper southern Thailand, including Bangkok and its vicinity, which may cause sudden flooding and torrential runoff, especially on slopes near waterways and low‑lying areas. A high‑pressure system or cold air mass from China over northern, northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea is bringing moist southeasterly winds across the country and the Gulf of Thailand. Volunteers in the network are advised to watch for geo‑hazard developments and prepare response measures; officials should inspect any incident sites promptly to assure the public and give initial guidance.
