Heavy Rains Forecast for Thailand July 26-30
Thailand's Meteorological Department warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the country July 26-30, with flash flooding risks in hilly and low-lying areas as a strengthened monsoon trough and Southwest monsoon winds bring intense down
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its seventh warning on July 26, 2025, for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand from July 26-30. Heavy rain is expected in many areas, with very heavy downpours anticipated in the Northeast, Central, Eastern, and Western Southern regions due to a monsoon trough and strengthening Southwest monsoon winds affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The public is warned of hazards from intense rainfall accumulation that may trigger flash floods and runoff, particularly in hilly and low-lying areas near waterways. Wave heights in the upper Andaman are forecast at 2-3 meters, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm zones, while the upper Gulf and lower Andaman may see waves around 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters during storms. Fishermen are advised to navigate cautiously, avoid thunderstorm areas, and small vessels in the upper Andaman should stay ashore during this period. Tropical cyclone Noul is also affecting Guangdong Province in China; travelers heading there should check weather conditions first. The public is encouraged to monitor updates from the Thai Meteorological Department via their website at http://www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24/7. The announcement includes a detailed list of provinces expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall for each day from July 26-30.
