Ibrahimovic Praises Cape Verde's Fearless World Cup Performance
Cape Verde's first World Cup campaign ended in a narrow loss to Argentina, but Zlatan Ibrahimović praised the island nation's fearless performance against world powerhouses.
Zlatan Ibrahimović, former Swedish national team striker, has praised Cape Verde's outstanding performance at this World Cup despite their recent elimination from the Round of 32 after losing to defending champions Argentina.
Cape Verde's maiden World Cup campaign came to an end after they lost to Argentina 2-3 in extra time during the Round of 32 on July 4 Thai time.
Following the match, Ibrahimović, now serving as an analyst for Fox Sports, commented on Cape Verde's performance: "They didn't win the World Cup, but this is a beautiful story. Sometimes you talk about beautiful stories more than about great moments, but this is a great moment for Cape Verde, the smallest country to ever play in the World Cup."
"They faced Spain, Uruguay, Argentina—major powerhouses—and they fought well. Honestly, today they played well. They played without fear. They even played better than Argentina, and they almost pulled it off."
