Jeff Satur shared a touching moment from The Toys' wedding, where Seo Bokhei cried like a mother, and expressed pride over his new single "Grief Eaters" connecting with fans' emotions.
After young artist Jeff Satur released his new song "Grief Eaters," his first under Universal Music SEA, he received overwhelming feedback as usual. Most recently, when he attended the FIRST PREMIERE "MY CHEF IN CRIME" at ONE Ultra Screens, 5th floor, Parade One Bangkok, he opened up about the song and his role as best man for The Toys, who recently wed.
How has the feedback been on the new song? "Very good. It's been out six days and already has 3 million views. It's really great. I feel it's a song where we went back to our old vibe but added something new. It's like a great opening track. I've seen all the comments coming in and read them every day. It feels like we're friends sharing a sad space together, comforting each other. The melody seems upbeat but carries a lingering sadness. I feel this song would be fun to perform live, and everyone has received it well."
Did you feel pressure releasing this song since it was highly anticipated and you're with a new label? "Honestly, as I said, I want to cut out all the feedback noise. If we enjoy the song and feel it must be released, that's enough. Once we release it, we love it and put it out. Feedback is something we can't control. There may be KPIs to hit, but ultimately they don't matter if we enjoy the song."
How was working with Allie, the female lead? "Allie carries the MV with so many eras and styles — vampire, boxer, rock star. The female lead had to carry all those looks, and Allie pulls off everything. She's already a professional actress doing this work."
What impressed you about her? "She did her homework well. In emotional scenes, she delivered even though it wasn't a series where we knew the story beforehand. She prepared knowing exactly why the character needed to be emotional at each point and played the scenes beautifully."
A fan commented in the MV that they once considered self-harm and this song related to their feelings. How do you feel? "I think these emotions arise in all of us, maybe not as severely. I feel lucky our song reached them and at least helped them grieve together. That's one of the highest dreams of being an artist — our music inspiring others, helping others, impacting lives positively."
When you heard the song helped someone through a dark point, how did that feel? "It feels like this is exactly why we do this as a career. Art — whether film, music, or books — is something that...
