King and Queen Honor Quran Recitation Champions in Pattani
The King and Queen traveled to Pattani to preside over the 19th National Quran Recitation Award ceremony, presenting prizes to winners, Islamic officials and private Islamic schools. They were greeted by local dignitaries at Hat Yai Airport before proceeding to the Pattani Central Mosque, where they observed exhibitions highlighting royal development projects. The visit underscored the monarchy’s support for religious education and community development in the deep south.
The King and Queen arrived at Pattani Central Mosque at 5:54 PM, where they were welcomed by Pattani Deputy Governor Chaiyaphon Niyamkaeo, Chularatchamontorn Arun Bun-chom, officials and members of the public. Inside the mosque hall, they granted audience to Pazeé Hamah, winner of the 12th‑grade Quran recitation contest for 2025, who carried the Holy Quran, and to Witthawat Wutpradith, who provided a Thai translation. The King then received a report from Sannan Santhimueang, deputy governor acting as provincial governor, on the purpose of the 19th National Quran Recitation Testing Project for 2026. Afterwards, the monarchs presented trophies to first‑, second‑ and third‑place winners, and gave commemorative shields to the judging committee and event sponsors.
Afterward, the Chularatchamontorn offered a prayer and blessed the King, Queen and royal family, followed by a cordial discussion with Islamic leaders. Their Majesties then toured an exhibition celebrating the King’s auspicious occasions, which featured displays on the SUPPORT handicraft program, OTOP products, Thai textiles, the Royal Foundation’s scholarship fund, eye‑cataract surgeries, colorectal‑cancer screening, and the Build-a-Happy-Home project that applies the King’s philosophy to create sustainable health and well‑being outside hospital walls.
