Meteorology Bureau Issues 13th Heavy Rain Alert for 41 Provinces
Thailand's Meteorology Bureau issued its 13th heavy rain alert on September 13 for 41 provinces across eastern and southern regions, warning of severe flooding risks and a potential tropical cyclone developing off central Vietnam.
On September 13, the Eastern and Southern regions will experience severe to extremely heavy rain in some areas, while the Northeast, Central region, Bangkok and its surrounding provinces will see heavy showers. A high-pressure system from China is moving into the upper North and upper Northeast, while a monsoon trough is passing through the lower Central, upper South, upper Gulf of Thailand, and Eastern regions, connecting to an intensifying low-pressure system off central Vietnam's coast. Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon over the Andaman Sea, South, and Gulf of Thailand is strengthening.
Public should beware of dangers from heavy and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and flash flooding, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones. Avoid traveling through repeatedly flooded routes, particularly in low-lying areas where water may accumulate suddenly. The low-pressure system off central Vietnam is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone and move toward northern Vietnam on September 13–14. The public is urged to monitor weather forecasts continuously and plan activities and travel carefully during this period.
