The Thai Meteorology Department forecasts heavy to very heavy rain across northern, northeastern, and southern Thailand over the next 24 hours, with some areas experiencing extremely heavy downpours. A monsoon trough crossing through Myanmar, upper northern Thailand, and Laos, combined with strong southwest monsoon winds over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, is driving the severe weather.
