Motorbike Rider Dies After Being Crushed by 18-Wheel Truck in Chonburi
An early afternoon crash in Chonburi saw a motorcyclist lose control on sand, veer into the path of an 18‑wheel truck and be crushed to death. The rider, identified as 31‑year‑old Phongsitti from Sa Kaeo, died instantly despite wearing a helmet. Police are investigating the incident, using dashcam footage from a witness to reconstruct the events.
According to the investigation, the motorbike involved was a black GPX Legend 200 with license plate 2 Ko Kho 6128 Chonburi. It lay overturned on the road, crushing the victim’s body. The truck, an 18‑wheel vehicle with plate 72-8943 Rayong, remained at the scene with visible damage to the rear trailer wheel. Truck driver Thanawat, 51, stood by to speak with police. Witness Sirineth, 29, said she had been following the truck when she saw the motorbike approaching from the opposite direction, lose traction on sand, slide out of the curve and into the truck’s lane, striking the rear wheel before being run over. Her dashboard camera recorded the incident, showing the bike entering the curve, then skidding into the truck’s path. Police Lieutenant Natthabodin Thongin inspected the scene, collected evidence, and reviewed the dashcam footage. The victim’s body was taken to Pattaya Patthamakat Hospital pending relatives’ arrival for funeral rites.
