Thailand Men's Volleyball Team Falls to China at Asian Games
Thailand's men's volleyball team lost 0-3 to China in the Asian Games quarterfinal, ending their campaign. Captain Boonnyarit Wongthor said the team performed well, gained valuable experience, and identified areas for improvement. He aims to lead the squad past ASEAN level before targeting higher competition.
Thailand's men's volleyball team, ranked 52nd in the world, took the court in the quarterfinal of the 20th Asian Games at Okazaki Shucho Sogo Park Gymnasium in Japan, where they were defeated by China, ranked 34th, in straight sets 0-3, ending their tournament run. After the match, team captain Sergeant Boonnyarit Wongthor of the national men's volleyball team said they played well, it was a good game from which they learned about Asian-level competition. Although many players are new, each demonstrated excellent potential. Moving forward, they need to continue learning; it remains uncertain whether they will return to the Asian Games in four years, but everyone hopes to improve on the small shortcomings. He added that he is proud regardless of whether they compete in the Asian Games or the AVC, everyone performed well and supported each other, and minor errors can be corrected together. His goal is to lift the team above ASEAN level first, encouraging his teammates to believe they can progress, starting with reaching the Asian standard before aiming for bigger stages.
