Thailand Halts Egg Exports to Boost Domestic Stocks Amid Floods
Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has delayed egg exports and boosted domestic stockpiles to prevent price spikes after floods disrupted production in some areas, especially the east. Officials met with producers, exporters, and retailers, who agreed to keep farm‑gate prices steady, extend hen laying cycles, and increase local distribution. The measures will continue until the situation normalizes.
The ministry asked exporters to cut shipments by 30‑50% and postpone outward sales to increase domestic supply, while urging retailers to raise orders and improve distribution networks. It also requested the Livestock Department to persuade farms to keep hens in lay longer, and instructed all facilities to prioritize regular sales channels and existing partners. Officials said the measures will stay in place until normal conditions return, and thanked businesses for their full cooperation, including staffing adjustments and providing worker housing despite flood impacts.
