Nadech and Yaya Revise Home Plans After Bangkok Floods
Nadech Kugimiya and Yaya Urassaya said they are revising the design of their new home to account for Bangkok’s flood risks after the recent inundation. Speaking at an HPV awareness campaign press conference, the couple noted they are cutting back on extravagant features and considering higher elevation and emergency access. They also shared their views on marriage, emphasizing mutual respect and being true to oneself while staying united.
Nadech explained that construction has not yet begun; they are still in the design phase and have consulted their architectural team about future flood mitigation. He said they are cutting back on unnecessary luxuries to avoid wasting money if floods occur again, but they will still keep a home in Bangkok because they work there. Yaya agreed they are on the same page regarding Bangkok’s flood risks and the need to adjust their home plans. Nadech noted concerns about the specific zone where they bought land, saying the house will need to be higher than before while complying with village regulations, and that transport plans must account for future children and elderly parents who may need emergency access. He added that, so far, they have not suffered direct impact because most of their work is in shopping malls, but they remain vigilant about the ongoing flood situation.
