Motorcycle Accident Victim Donates Organs, Saves Six Lives

A final act of giving: a woman injured in a motorcycle accident has donated her organs to save six lives, honoring her stated intention to become a donor. At 9:20 a.m. on September 11, 2026, the medical team at Trang Hospital transported the sixth organ—a heart valve—harvested from 46-year-old Suchart (known as "Aey") from Trang. The valve was carefully processed and prepared for transfer from the seventh floor of Trang Hospital to Krabi Airport, where it would be flown to Bangkok for transplantation into the sixth waiting recipient.

The organ transfer was escorted by police, followed by highway patrol vehicles, Trang Hospital ambulances, rescue vehicles from Trang Charity Foundation, and local volunteer rescuers to ensure the organ reached its destination safely and quickly. On the evening of September 10 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Trang Hospital surgeons harvested five organs from Suchart: two kidneys, two corneas, and one heart valve across three organ types. One cornea was sent to Songkhla Province, while the remaining organs were transported to Hat Yai Airport before being flown to Bangkok for transplantation, ultimately helping five patients.

Suchart was struck by a motorcycle driven by a 16-year-old student on September 8, 2026, while turning into her home after buying food for her mother. She sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Trang Hospital. Doctors informed her family that her brain damage was critical and irreversible. The family decided to honor Suchart's previously stated wish to donate her organs to the Thai Red Cross. This case marks the first in southern Thailand where a single donor's organs—six pieces across three types (kidneys, corneas, and heart valve)—have helped six transplant recipients, representing a profound legacy of life and merit-making by Suchart's family.
