The injured victim, 32 year old Chawanit, was reported to be the official from the PEA. CCTV caught the aftermath showing Chawanit riding his motorcycle out of the scene with one of his hands pressed to the wound, flagging down passersby for help. People in the area then took him to hospital. According to the report on Amarin TV, he remains in serious condition with bleeding lungs. The attacker was identified as 32 year old Phu. He escaped after stabbing and remains at large at the time of the reporting. A child living in the house came out and asked Chawanit to give her parents more time to pay. He agreed and gave the household until the afternoon. According to Thanyaret, Chawanit returned to the house at around 5 pm to find that the bill was still unpaid. He was about to cut off the power when Phu arrived on his motorcycle. He claimed that Phu did not return home for several days before the incident. According to his stepfather, Phu has a short temper and habitually carries a knife. He said that Phu had stabbed someone in a dispute two or three months ago and was still fighting that case. Local police officers are now gathering evidence and searching for the suspect. The department aims to reduce dugong deaths from human activity to zero without restricting fishermen's livelihoods, instead creating safe shared use of marine resources. Both measures are expected to be implemented within six months. Over the past decade, 209 dugongs have been found stranded, with causes unknown in 78 cases.

The victim's sister came forward on August 17 with chat logs and financial documents to seek justice, explaining that her brother met the teacher through a dating app and gradually developed a relationship. During their courtship, the woman pressured him to arrange a wedding and demanded he prepare bride-price money, convincing him of her sincerity. He then took out loans and transferred over 300,000 baht, believing it would secure their engagement and wedding plans.

The victim's family contends this is not a simple romantic transaction but calculated fraud. The woman concealed critical facts, particularly her marital status—she remained legally married to an active-duty sailor throughout June and July while accepting money from the victim and posting online that she was single. The sailor himself claims he was similarly defrauded and paid 100,000 baht just to secure a divorce signature. Officials plan to present evidence to investigators and pursue fraud charges against the woman.
