Navy Seizes 300kg Ice Worth $10M in Nong Khai Bust
Navy patrol units in Nong Khai arrested one suspect and seized 300kg of methamphetamine worth approximately $10 million near the Mekong River in a coordinated anti-trafficking operation.
On July 30, 2025, Navy spokesman Pol. Capt. Parich Ratanachiyphan revealed that the Mekong River patrol unit in Nong Khai, coordinating with regional security agencies, successfully intercepted drug smugglers in Sangkhom District, approximately 3 kilometers from the Mekong River. Officers arrested one suspect and seized one vehicle along with approximately 300 kilograms of ice valued at around 300 million baht. The suspect and evidence have been handed over to investigators for prosecution, with authorities pursuing leads on other gang members.
Pol. Capt. Parich stated that the successful operation resulted from coordinated intelligence work between the naval unit and regional security agencies conducting continuous surveillance and interdiction efforts along the Mekong River border. The seizure effectively disrupted cross-border drug trafficking and prevented 300 million baht worth of ice from entering Thai society.
The Thai Navy continues to intensify anti-drug and transnational crime operations through integrated cooperation with all agencies to maintain border security and protect the safety and property of Thai citizens.
