Oil Leak Found on Fuel Road; Energy Minister Orders Pipeline Companies to Repair
An oil leak discovered near Rama III expressway in Bangkok has been traced to pipeline operators Baffl and Bangkok Pipeline, who have been ordered by the Energy Minister to repair the damage and compensate for environmental harm.
On September 9, Energy Minister Eknath Pormpan inspected the site of oil contamination in Bangkok's drainage system near Fuel Road below the Rama III elevated expressway, at the boundary between Khlong Toei and Yan Nawa districts. Excavation work uncovered the source of the oil leak, and the minister immediately ordered Baffl Pipeline Transport Company Limited and Bangkok Pipeline Transport and Logistics Company Limited to undertake urgent repairs. Both companies have been directed to not only remedy the damage and restore the area to its former state but also to pay full compensation for all harm caused. The minister conducted a detailed inspection of the surrounding area to evaluate the environmental impact and prevent additional leaks. The discovery of this leak represents a crucial breakthrough in resolving the Rama III oil spill problem, with the Energy Ministry committing to close oversight of repairs and restoration efforts to ensure the operators bear full responsibility for the damages.
