Phang Nga To Host AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup 2026
Phang Nga province will host the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup Thailand 2026 from November 18 to 28, with three Asian teams qualifying for the 2027 Beach Soccer World Cup. Preparations are underway, with government, private sector, and local communities expressing strong support and confirming that venues and accommodations are ready. The Oman national beach soccer team is preparing with a training camp in Belarus and friendlies against Belarus and Iran ahead of the tournament.
Lertsak Panklin added that Governor Pharitt Phetryuan has convened meetings on readiness, safety, cleanliness, and hospitality, and that beach field preparations—including site surveys, sand leveling, and layout planning—are finished. He noted the venue offers stunning sunset views and will coincide with the high season, encouraging visitors to enjoy local food, community products, and trips to the Similan and Surin Islands. Regarding the Oman national beach soccer team, head coach Talib Hilal Al‑Thanawee called up 16 players for a training camp in Belarus from October 6–12, trimming the squad to 14 before a friendly against Belarus on October 16 and Iran, four‑time Asian champions, on October 17. The Oman squad retains nine players from its 2025 Asian Cup runner‑up team, led by Yahya Al‑Muraqi and goalkeeper Yunis Al‑Owaisi, who each scored in Oman’s 3‑2 semifinal win over Japan last year. Yunis also scored the winning goal in the 28th minute of that match and later heroically saved a crucial penalty in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025 shootout against El Salvador, helping Oman win 7‑6 after a 4‑4 draw. Other returning players include Mishaal Al‑Aryami, Musallam Al‑Aryami, Ahmed Al‑Owaisi, Noah Al‑Sadjali, Sami Al‑Buloshi, Khalid Al‑Aryami, and Salim Al‑Aryami. Oman’s team manager Rashid Al‑Badi said the Belarus camp and upcoming friendlies, plus the Arab Cup in Egypt (November 4–11), will give the squad varied competition before the Asian Cup in Thailand.
