Pheu Thai Leader Urges Patience on Senate Case Ruling

Julpan Amornvivat, Pheu Thai party leader and Labour Minister, has urged restraint as the Election Commission prepares to rule on a high-profile Senate seat acquisition case. Speaking on September 14 at Rama Gardens Hotel, he stressed that Pheu Thai has pushed the matter to its conclusion and the process now rests with independent authorities, calling for clarity before further action. "We shouldn't jump to conclusions or worry prematurely. Let's wait for the ruling, then proceed accordingly," Julpan said.

When asked if the case and related Constitutional Court issues posed a threat to government stability, particularly as rival political factions intensify their involvement, Julpan expressed confidence. He stated that independent agencies must remain truly independent and not subject to pressure, as the ultimate outcome depends on evidence and the justice system. "No one can alter the result. We must respect the process," he said.

On internal government stability, Julpan reported no signs of wavering among coalition partners, with all parties committed to their work. Regarding external stability, he said the government must accelerate its work and earn public trust. He acknowledged potential concerns but emphasized that democratic mechanisms—parliamentary oversight and institutional checks—remain active and the government welcomes scrutiny. When pressed on contingency plans, Julpan denied having any, expressing confidence in Pheu Thai's ability to navigate the situation. He noted the party has weathered numerous political crises historically and remains focused on moving forward without fear of political deadlock.
