Pickup Crashes Into Water Pipe, 5 Subdistricts Lose Supply
A pickup truck hydroplaned on a wet road in Trat, crashed into a major water pipe, and cut supply to five subdistricts. The driver was slightly injured. Repair crews expect to restore water service by early morning on October 30.
At 4:00 PM on October 29, 2026, Muang Trat Highway Police received a report of a pickup truck losing control and flipping over on the bridge crossing the Trat River on Sukhumvit Road in Wang Krajae subdistrict, Muang district, Trat province. Police coordinated with patrol officers and Sawang Boonchuay rescue volunteers from Trat to inspect and assist.
At the scene, a white Isuzu pickup with license plate Bor Thor 2097 Trat was found overturned in a roadside drainage ditch. The vehicle had crashed into a water transmission pipe belonging to the Regional Waterworks Division, Trat branch, causing it to burst and sending a large volume of water into the Trat River. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Anuphong, suffered minor injuries with chest pain.
According to Anuphong, he was driving on Sukhumvit Road in the rain, which made the road wet and slippery. Upon reaching the Trat Provincial Court intersection, he encountered a vehicle ahead slowing down to make an illegal U-turn. He decided to swerve and accelerate to overtake, but the pickup lost traction, swayed, veered off the road, flipped over, and struck the water pipe.
Following the accident, the Regional Waterworks Division, Trat branch, dispatched officials to assess the damage and urgently closed control valves to stop the leak and repair the damaged transmission pipe. The agency initially announced that residents in five subdistricts — Nai Sai, Tha Phrik, Chamrak, Ta Kang, and Laem Klad — should store water for consumption, as water supply must be temporarily suspended during repairs.
Officials estimate the water pipe repairs will be completed by 3:00 AM on October 30, 2026, to restore normal water service to the public.
