Pickup Crashes Into Three Vehicles On Slick Chumphon Road; One Dead
A pickup truck lost control on a wet curve in Chumphon on September 11, triggering a chain-reaction crash that killed one driver and injured another across three vehicles.
At 7:30 a.m. on September 11, 2025, Muang Chumphon police responded to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the Chumphon-Sapli Road near the Kuan Kiri curve in Nachang subdistrict, Muang district, Chumphon province. Officers arrived with rescue teams from the Chumphon Charitable Foundation and provincial disaster prevention officials to find vehicle debris scattered across the inbound lane to Chumphon town.
A white Toyota pickup was found overturned across the center of the road with one occupant trapped inside. Thanomsil, a 45-year-old driver (surname withheld), was rescued by emergency responders with injuries to his left leg and transported to the hospital for treatment. Behind the pickup, a Honda sedan with visible front-end damage was found; its driver, Aiem, age 70 (surname withheld), was uninjured.
Approximately 15 meters away, a white Toyota Hilux Vigo pickup was discovered straddling the white line between the shoulder and left lane with severe front-end damage. The driver, Nongsakdi, age 32 (surname withheld), was found dead inside the vehicle. Emergency personnel used cutting equipment to extract the body, which was transported to Chumphon Hospital for autopsy.
According to witness accounts and statements from Thanomsil's relatives, the accident occurred on a curved section of road during rainfall that likely made the surface slippery. Thanomsil had been driving out of Chumphon town toward Sapli when his pickup lost control, crossed lanes, and collided with another white pickup before sliding into Aiem's vehicle. Aiem reported seeing the pickup lose control, hit the white truck, flip over, and then strike his car, though he and his passenger escaped injury.
The collision resulted in one fatality, one serious injury, and damage to three vehicles. Police collected evidence and witness statements at the scene to determine the exact cause of the accident before proceeding with legal procedures. Investigators are focusing on the vehicle loss of control and road conditions at the time of the crash.
