A shocking incident occurred at 6:15 PM on October 30 at the walking street near the Chainat Dam in Mueang District, Chai Nat province. A gray pickup truck plowed into the pedestrian area, which was bustling with people shopping and dining, forcing pedestrians to flee for their lives. The vehicle first struck a parked pickup truck, then crashed into vehicles inside the market area before slamming into pedestrians. Initially, police were tracking down the unknown driver. Two people were injured — a woman and a child approximately 7 years old. Witnesses said it was fortunate that bystanders managed to pull potential victims away in time, otherwise they would certainly have been run over. Later, a Facebook user named "Junior," who is a police officer with the Mueang Chai Nat Police Station, posted that the perpetrator had been apprehended along with the pickup truck, which had severe front-end damage.
