On September 8, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who also serves as Interior Minister, commented on a Facebook post featuring remarks by Virojn Laksanaudisorn, deputy leader of the Democrat Party. Virojn had posted that if someone became defensive upon seeing the number 229, it would suggest they had some involvement with it, implying that an innocent bystander would simply overlook it. Anutin responded with a comment saying, "5555 [laughing]. Stop making self-serving insinuations."
