PM Anutin Calms 72-Hour Stockpiling Fears, Guarantees Food Security
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul urged Thais not to panic over the viral 72-hour emergency stockpiling trend, saying people should live normally as Thailand's food infrastructure is fully self-sufficient. He guaranteed no family would go hungry and emphasized the government's greater concern is reaching vulnerable citizens during crises rather than food supply itself.
On November 7, 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spoke on the NBT program 'Talk with PM Anutin' about the viral 72-hour stockpiling trend for emergency readiness. He stated plainly that people should continue daily life as normal — instant noodles, ready-made porridge, boxed meals, and frozen foods are already in household kitchens. There is no need to worry about shortages of food or consumer goods beyond normal levels. The concept of emergency food scarcity remains distant for Thailand because the country's structural foundation has everything needed. Anutin said he is not worried about food but about whether vulnerable people can be reached quickly during crises. When asked if war fears were driving the trend, he said the panic appeared suddenly on social media and urged normal living, vowing the government would never allow any family to face unsurvivable food deprivation. On cyber threats affecting Europe's frozen food supply chains, Anutin noted Thailand's fresh markets and domestic production make such scenarios unlikely here. The main cyber risk in Thailand remains online scams using advanced communication technology. He added that Thailand's food security strength also positions it to ensure food stability for trading partners, likening the country to an energy provider for human survival.
