At 10 a.m. on July 14, 2025, at Government House Building 1, Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Panchaiwarakul and officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) met with Prime Minister Anutohin Chanyaweerakul and Interior Minister to promote the musical performance of Rattikarn Amloy, known as Nene Royal, a young Thai artist based in Phuket who has brought recognition to Thailand through her participation and musical performance on the world stage at America's Got Talent.

Nene Royal performed the song "Somsan" by Sek Loso while cabinet ministers stood nearby, clapping along to the rhythm. The Prime Minister handed his microphone to Deputy PM and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yotsanan Wongsawat to sing along, then passed it to other attending ministers including Labor Minister Chulphan Amornviwat, Education Minister Prasert Chantharawong, and Social Development and Human Security Minister Nikon Somklaing.

Nene Royal then performed an electric guitar solo that drew applause from the gathered officials. She followed with a performance of "Zombie" by The Cranberries, the song she will perform at America's Got Talent. Afterward, the Prime Minister presented her with a commemorative gift, posed for photographs, and all present made the rock salute gesture. Cabinet members requested photos with Nene Royal and wished her luck in the competition.

Car Insurance Call Centers Urgently Need Better Service

Thailand's auto insurance customer satisfaction declined to 889 points in 2025, with call center services identified as the weakest area needing urgent improvement in response times and claim procedure clarity.

Differential has revealed survey results showing overall satisfaction with auto insurance services has declined, with call centers identified as the factor most in need of improvement.

Siris Saatraphay, Managing Director of Differential Thailand and Vietnam, disclosed that the 2025 Thai Auto Insurance Customer Experience Index (INSCXI)—the second year of this continuous study—surveyed and assessed overall satisfaction among vehicle owners who used auto insurance services over the past 12 months.

The study covered three key factors: value, benefits, and service convenience; surveyor and roadside assistance services; and call center services.

Data was collected through face-to-face interviews with 1,552 vehicle owners nationwide who purchased vehicles between October 2020 and October 2024 and used auto insurance services between October 2023 and October 2024.

The research found that the average satisfaction score of vehicle owners with insurance company services "declined" across the industry, dropping 7 points from 896 (out of 1,000) last year to 889 this year.

All three service factors surveyed showed declining scores. Call center services saw the steepest decline (down 7 points), followed by surveyor and roadside assistance (down 6 points), and value, benefits, and service convenience (down 4 points).

Siris noted that call centers emerged as a critical weakness, with customers feeling services fall short. Problems identified include convenience of contact, speed of coordination, clarity in explaining claim procedures, and other factors customers prioritize.

While customers continue to value policy benefits and surveyor services, the call center experience is equally important as it is the first point of contact when accidents occur. Improving this area will directly impact customer satisfaction and brand confidence. Insurance companies that understand customer feedback and deliver excellent service experiences can create clear differentiation, gain tangible advantages, and earn customer loyalty and referrals.

"Service quality during moments when customers need help is critical in determining long-term loyalty between customers and insurance brands," Siris said. "The INSCXI research helps insurance companies understand what customers value and prioritize, which influences their decision to renew policies in the following year."

PHUKET — On 13 July 2026, a sea turtle was rescued after becoming entangled in a fishing net that washed ashore on Karon Beach in Phuket, with lifeguards freeing the injured animal before it was transferred for treatment.

Facebook user Dechapawida Chueanak shared a video of the rescue on 13 July 2026, writing: "Every life matters, whether human or animal."

The footage showed the turtle trapped in a fishing net that had been carried onto the beach by waves. Lifeguards stationed at Karon Beach worked together to cut away the net and safely free the turtle. A preliminary examination found the animal had suffered an injury to one of its hind flippers.

Officials then contacted the Siritharn Rare Marine Animal Rescue Centre, whose staff took the turtle for treatment and rehabilitation before considering its release back into the wild once it has fully recovered.

The rescue drew widespread praise on social media, with many users thanking the Karon Beach lifeguards and marine officials for saving the protected marine animal.

The incident also renewed calls for greater efforts to reduce marine debris and abandoned fishing nets, which are among the leading causes of injury and death for marine wildlife each year.

Thailand's national junior badminton team returned home on 13 July after a superb performance at the Jaya Raya Junior International Grand Prix 2026 in Tangerang, Indonesia, where they won three gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

The team was welcomed upon arrival by Air Chief Marshal Monthon Satchukorn, president of the Badminton Association of Thailand, who presented the players with bouquets in recognition of their achievements and dedication throughout the tournament.

Monthon described the competition as one of the world's leading international junior badminton tournaments, featuring talented young players from several countries. "This is another significant achievement for Thai badminton," he said. "Our junior athletes performed exceptionally well, winning three gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Overall, it is a commendable performance."

He said part of the team's success stemmed from athletes who came through the Thai Domestic Power programme, a talent development initiative jointly organised by the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Sports Development Fund and the Badminton Association of Thailand. The programme scouts promising young players from regions across the country before selecting them to represent Thailand at international tournaments, including the Jaya Raya Junior International Grand Prix.

Monthon also praised the outstanding performances of junior players representing clubs across Thailand. He expressed confidence that the current generation of junior players would become an important force in strengthening Thailand's senior national team in the years ahead.

Pinitj Netpanya, commander of Mae Tha Police Station in Lamphun Province, ordered an investigation into temples in the jurisdiction in coordination with community leaders and temple committees. Officers would arrest anyone residing at temples with drug-related behavior.

Led by Pol. Lt. Anutt Kammee, deputy commander of Mae Tha Police Station, and fellow officers including Pol. Lt. Prasit Yodruean and Sgt. Maj. Seksorn Suyawongse, police arrested one suspect on July 13 at 1:00 p.m.:

Arrested: Phra Saen, 42 years old, from Hua Sua Subdistrict, Mae Tha District, Lamphun Province. One mobile phone was seized as evidence. He is charged with illegal possession and use of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) and unauthorized gambling (slot machines).

Background: Police received complaints from residents and Buddhist community members about Phra Saen's strange behavior and suspected drug use. Witnesses reported that unfamiliar teenagers on motorcycles would visit after he returned from religious ceremonies, and he would appear hyperactive and restless. On July 12, after returning from ritual duties, his unusual behavior prompted residents to report him to police. A urine test showed purple coloration, consistent with methamphetamine use. The suspect admitted to gambling on online slots after using drugs, losing thousands of baht with no wins. On the morning of July 14, 2025, the Trat Provincial Maritime Authority launched an intensive search for the fishing vessel Chok Kanya (hull number 392301160, 17.02 gross tons) after the Trat Fisheries Association reported the ship had lost contact during a fishing operation. The vessel, owned by Amnat Sudsongvarn, departed from Mae Kim Hoi Port in Trat on June 28 with a crew of five—one Thai and four Cambodian nationals. The captain's last communication indicated the boat was anchored off Big Bay for shelter and would resume fishing in the evening. Authorities, coordinating with the Port Authority, Police Waterborne Unit, Department of Fisheries, and rescue teams, activated a comprehensive search operation and requested public assistance. Anyone spotting the vessel or with information is urged to contact the Maritime Authority hotline 1465, available 24 hours. In a separate incident, the passenger and cargo vessel Koh Mak Diving became partially submerged at Laem Ngop Pier after developing a leak near Slak Island. Although crew members attempted emergency repairs and water pumping, the incoming water volume overwhelmed their efforts, causing the vessel to sink as it approached the pier. All three crew members and passengers aboard evacuated safely with no injuries reported. Local authorities and relevant agencies are coordinating relief and administrative follow-up.

Families of those killed in the Ladprao beer hall fire are progressively collecting remains to return home, with 27 victims now identified and three more under examination. On July 14, 2569, staff from the Po Ek Tung Foundation and the Police Hospital's Institute of Forensic Medicine established a document and coordination center at the Police Hospital to support families in repatriating their loved ones after completing all required procedures. As of the previous day, seven families had already collected and taken remains back to their hometowns.

To claim a victim's remains, the authorized person must be a direct relative under Thai law—a parent, child, or legally registered spouse. If a direct relative cannot travel, they may authorize someone else through power-of-attorney and supporting documents. Document verification began at 08:30 this morning, with remains being released to families throughout the afternoon for transport home at no cost.

Regarding identification progress, a total of 29 bodies have been delivered to the Institute of Forensic Medicine, with two additional bodies brought in the previous day. To date, 17 families have arrived to provide identification and data matching. Overall operations have proceeded smoothly without major obstacles, though staff continue to require time for analysis and data comparison as families of victims continue to arrive for forensic and legal procedures.

According to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Facebook page, as of 09:00 on July 14, 2569, the death toll stands at 30, with 27 identified and three pending identification. Among the injured—75 total—24 are in critical condition (red tag), 15 have moderate injuries (yellow tag), and 36 have minor injuries (green tag).

Police Question Beer Bar Owner's Sister in Fire Investigation

Police are questioning the beer bar owner's sister as the death toll from a deadly fire reaches 30, with investigators also gathering witness statements as the critically injured owner remains hospitalized in the ICU.

Police Question Beer Bar Owner's Sister in Fire Investigation
2d ago Khaosod

Police are questioning the sister of the Ladprao beer bar owner as the death toll from the fire stands at 30, with 27 identified and 3 awaiting identification verification. On July 14, 2569, Deputy National Police Chief Pallop Uamhla presided over a progress meeting at Phaholyothin Police Station following interviews with 17 witnesses the previous night. Since the bar owner remains in critical condition with severe injuries and is hospitalized in the ICU, police have requested his sister provide information about the establishment and interview all people involved.

Ms. Prabharaksa, girlfriend of the bar's sound engineer who was injured in the fire, visited Phaholyothin Police Station to claim her boyfriend's belongings and vehicle parked behind the bar. The vehicle was undamaged but the car key may be lost inside the bar or with investigators. She revealed her boyfriend had worked as the bar's sound engineer for approximately 3 years on a daily wage basis with no benefits or social security, relying only on his health insurance card.

Her boyfriend sustained severe burns covering approximately 60 percent of his body and inhaled significant smoke, resulting in kidney failure and a large abdominal wound of unknown cause—possibly from a blast impact—as he was thrown outside. He is currently in an isolation room on a ventilator but conscious. He is being treated under the critical emergency patient (UCEP) program and may need to be transferred to a gold card hospital in Lopburi province after 72 hours, though his family is anxious about moving him while his condition remains critical.

Ms. Prabharaksa expressed concern about transferring a patient in unstable condition and uncertainty about additional medical costs if treatment cannot continue under his current benefits. She noted the family has limited financial capacity and cannot afford substantial medical expenses. She also revealed that since the incident, neither the bar owner nor any representative has contacted them to inquire about his condition or discuss assistance. She recounted that when the fire occurred, she learned about it through a friend's phone call informing her he had been taken to the hospital. Though he initially managed to exit the site, his condition deteriorated at the hospital due to severe burns and smoke inhalation.
