PM Vows Cabinet Has No Ties to Illegal Business

Speaking at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on September 21 during a foreign policy coordination meeting to promote Thai-Japanese relations, Prime Minister Anuthine Charnvirakul declared that his cabinet is committed to cracking down on scammers, illegal businesses, and all forms of drug trafficking—a campaign his government has sustained since his previous term through the present. Over ten months combined, authorities have seized assets worth more than 20 billion baht from scam networks. The PM assured the public that no cabinet member has any connection to gray-market or illicit enterprises, leaving no room for compromise with lawbreakers. He noted the government has upgraded standards and improved measures, prompting rating agencies to shift Thailand's outlook from negative to stable while maintaining a BBB credit rating. International recognition from Fitch Ratings, S&P, and Moody's confirms the country's credibility. The PM emphasized that high political stability—backed by parliamentary support, coalition cohesion, civil service cooperation, and military coordination—represents a major national strength that instills confidence internationally. He stressed these achievements demonstrate Thailand's serious commitment to combating all forms of crime and illegal activity, and acknowledged concerns about Thai nationals overstaying in Japan. The National Police are coordinating with Japanese authorities to prevent and suppress such violations going forward.
