Police Chief Addresses Release of Three Suspects in Fraud Case
The National Police Chief confirmed that police submitted the local election corruption case file on time, despite the release of three suspects due to delays by the anti‑corruption commission. He said police are ready to arrest the suspects if the commission issues warrants and dismissed concerns of repeating past investigative failures. The remarks came after the commission missed the deadline to forward the case to the Attorney General’s Office.
Pol Gen Sanphuan Nuannama told reporters on October 10, 2026, that the three suspects detained in the local election fraud case were released after the anti-corruption commission failed to forward the case to the Attorney General’s Office within the 84‑day detention limit. He emphasized that police had completed their preliminary investigation and handed over the evidence to the commission within 30 days, and that the commission is responsible for the full investigation. The police chief added that officers are prepared to pursue and arrest the suspects should the commission issue arrest warrants, and denied any procedural lapses that could repeat past failures like the energy‑drink heir case.
