Police Identify Bullying as Motive in School Shooting
Police say a Grade 9 student carried out a mass shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi Province in retaliation for bullying, using his grandfather's rifle to target classmates before turning on teachers who helped them escape.
On August 7, 2569, police investigating a mass shooting at Thepsirin School in the Bang Kruai area of Nonthaburi Province have determined the motive was revenge for bullying. The shooter, a Grade 9 boy, has lived with his grandparents since childhood due to his parents' separation. The weapon used was a CZ semi-automatic rifle belonging to his grandfather, and police recovered 34 unused rounds and two magazines from his bag.
Police found that the student was regularly bullied and physically abused by classmates, causing him deep resentment. He stole his grandfather's gun to shoot his classmates in revenge, but when teachers helped the intended targets escape, he turned his weapon on the teachers instead, resulting in multiple teacher fatalities.
