On September 3, Deputy Commander Thammmasak Pintong of Region 6 Provincial Police visited the scene to follow up on the case of a 14-year-old Grade 9 student who opened fire at Vachirprakarn Witthayakom School in Kamphaeng Phet province. He held a meeting with Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Police and education personnel to establish preventive measures and verify facts. Officials noted that the incident ended well thanks to effective crisis response drills conducted by network partners.
The boy's father disclosed that he was aware of his son's depression diagnosis and ongoing treatment, acknowledging that the child's stress had accumulated over multiple issues. The school and guidance counselor had previously met with the parents, and the provincial education office also had prevention plans in place, though the incident occurred before they could be implemented. He commended emergency responders for their ability to negotiate, build trust, and contain the situation quickly.
Investigators conducted further questioning of the youth before forwarding the case to the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Prosecutor's Office for legal proceedings. The boy remained calm during questioning, briefly revealing that he felt relieved after talking with his parents and admitted guilt for his actions.
Regarding his motive, the youth stated he acted out of anger due to severe bullying by close friends and frustration over a teacher disclosing his personal information. Nevertheless, he has expressed remorse for what occurred. Authorities are continuing the case while providing psychological support and seeking ways to prevent similar incidents at educational institutions.
