Police Officer Shoots Kindergarten Teacher in Chachoengsao School

Bangkok Mass Transit Police Officer Tasapong shot and killed kindergarten teacher Pailin (known as Teacher Puab), 48, on September 9, 2026 at a municipal kindergarten in Bang Lamung district, Chachoengsao province. CCTV footage showed the officer arriving at the school in a vehicle before entering the building with what appeared to be a firearm in his right hand. At approximately 10:27 a.m., security cameras recorded staff attempting to shepherd children into a classroom as the man appeared nearby. The officer, wearing a white shirt and shorts, then entered, and a single shot was fired. Teacher Puab collapsed and died. The shooter stood at the scene for about ten seconds before leaving the school, getting into a vehicle, and driving away.
Police pursued the suspect to a residence in Bang Lamung district and surrounded the house. Officers attempted negotiations for the suspect to surrender, with family members and his son helping to persuade him. Reports indicated that during the drive home after the incident, the officer called his son and made reference to harm against the boy's mother and himself, details that authorities were still investigating. Witnesses confirmed there had been an argument the night before.
The family had celebrated a wedding blessing for the couple's son on September 5, just four days prior, attended by numerous relatives and associates. Three hours after the shooting, police maintained a siege around the house and continued negotiations without attempting to enter, prioritizing the safety of all parties involved.
