A tragic crash occurred when a police sergeant major driving a pickup truck headed to the police station to attend Police Day celebrations collided with a motorcycle at an intersection, killing a 60‑year‑old rider. The driver said he could not avoid the bike in time.
At 11:30 a.m. on October 17, 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kornphong Mongkhonthansupphakorn, investigator at Nang Rong Police Station, received a report of a pickup‑motorcycle collision at the Ban Sing intersection on the Nang Rong–Lam Plai Mat road, about 12 km from Nang Rong town. He coordinated with the Siam Ruamjai rescue team to inspect the scene.
Officers found a black‑red Honda Wave motorcycle without a license plate lying in front of an Isuzu pickup bearing a Buriram registration plate. Nearby lay the body of the motorcyclist, Mr. Winai (surname withheld), aged 60, who had been riding the bike.
His sister, still in shock, recounted that he had left home on his motorcycle to cross the road to see a doctor at the Ban Sing health promotion hospital when the pickup struck him.
The driver was identified as a Police Sergeant Major assigned to Lam Plai Mat Police Station in Lam Plai Mat district, Buriram province. He was not injured and told investigators he was driving straight from Nang Rong toward Lam Plai Mat to attend Police Day when he saw the motorcycle rush into his path, attempted to swerve, but could not avoid it.
Investigators photographed the scene and collected evidence, then took the driver to Nang Rong Police Station for further questioning to proceed with legal action.
