Region 4 Provincial Police intercepted a drug trafficking network that was preparing to transport 500 kilograms of ice worth more than 100 million baht to Bangkok. At 8:00 p.m. on October 4, 2026, Region 4 Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Nopkasom Somanat examined the seized ice after it was confiscated in Mitraphap 27 Soi, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The narcotics were concealed inside a white Honda Jazz, and officers detained Pisit, 39, of Nonthaburi Province, and Sarawit, 33, of Chonburi Province. A search of the vehicle’s rear revealed numerous white sacks containing ice packets, with a total of 500 bundles weighing 500 kilograms.

The commissioner said that after gathering intelligence on major drug seizures in the central region, investigators focused on groups transporting the drugs from Region 4’s jurisdiction, eventually identifying two vehicles used to move the narcotics. Surveillance was deployed, and the convoy was tracked from Udon Thani into Khon Kaen’s Mueang District, where officers observed a lead Toyota Fortuner and a following Honda Jazz carrying the drugs before moving in to make the arrests.

Both suspects initially confessed that their role was to collect the ice from the border area between Udon Thani and Khon Kaen and deliver it to Bangkok, but they were apprehended before the handover. Police said they will continue to expand the investigation to uncover the wider network behind the operation.
