Police Seize M16, Shotguns, Explosives in Narathiwat Raid
Police in Narathiwat province raided a secret weapons cache, seizing an M16 rifle, shotguns, pistols, explosives, and over 100 rounds of ammunition. They said the cache was being prepared for a major attack planned for October 1, 2026. Forensic teams are now examining the weapons for DNA, fingerprints, and links to previous incidents.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Payong Kotsaka, commander of Narathiwat Provincial Police, said that after deep intelligence investigations, police special forces raided a suspicious house in Lubo Bayo subdistrict, Yarang district. Inside, they found the house used as a hideout for lethal firearms, bomb-making equipment, and large quantities of ammunition. Items seized include: one M16 assault rifle, three long shotguns, one 9mm semi-automatic pistol, one .38 revolver, one M67 grenade, one improvised explosive device, 66 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition for the M16, 33 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun shells, two M16 magazines, and two 9mm magazines. Forensic officers are examining the weapons' serial numbers to collect DNA and latent fingerprints, and will test whether the firearms have been used in prior security incidents or old cases in the southern border provinces.
