Following a post by the socialgaze page that exposed allegations of sexual misconduct by a prominent pro-democracy activist against a woman identified as Ms. A, Somyos Prueksakemsukhum, a well-known political activist, has posted an apology on Facebook. In his statement, Somyos wrote: "I apologize to Ms. A for my misunderstanding. I believed only from my perspective that Ms. A had consented, but that was not what Ms. A has described. After multiple incidents, Ms. A moved in with me, and I thought our relationship would proceed smoothly in matters of love. Ms. A is 25 years old and I am 64 years old, as I have mentioned. However, after living together for two years—the first year we managed to get along, but in the second year, our relationship became estranged. While living together, Ms. A wanted to keep the relationship secret, and I agreed to keep it secret as well. We lived together and had increasingly severe arguments and harsh words until we had to break up. I apologize to Ms. A again and apologize to everyone I have upset with my wrongful actions. I accept all punishment."
