Portugal has appointed Jorge Jesus as its new head coach on a contract through 2030, replacing Roberto Martinez who left the position after the 2026 World Cup ended in a Round of 16 exit. The 71-year-old Jesus has managed top clubs across several countries, most recently guiding Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr to the Saudi Pro League title last season while working alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. This marks Jesus's first national team coaching role. He will begin his tenure by leading Portugal through the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League, followed by Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup. When asked about Ronaldo, Jesus said: "I haven't spoken with Cristiano yet, but he won't be a problem for the national team or for me. As long as he's in the right condition, I will select him under the conditions I consider best for the national team."
