Power Company Catches House Stealing Electricity and Water
A Ko Lanta household was caught illegally reconnecting electricity and water after their meters were removed, with residents even covering the water meter with a plastic tank to conceal the theft.
On September 16, a TikTok user and power company official posted a video showing a house illegally drawing electricity and water. Utility staff inspected a property that had been previously disconnected and had its meters removed, only to discover the residents had secretly reconnected power directly into the house. They had also illegally tapped the water supply in the same manner, covering the water meter with a plastic tank to hide the violation. When officials called for someone to come out and police were notified, no one appeared at the door. The power company ultimately filed a criminal complaint against the household for theft of public electricity and water.
