Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri presided over a ceremony receiving sports equipment to support the Prime Minister's Youth Cup 2027 and announced a regional sports facility development policy. The event was attended by Udon Thani Deputy Governor Nattapong Kamwongpin, Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) Governor Prodpran Sumanmit, SAT Deputy Governor for Sports Promotion Surasak Kerdjan, SAT Deputy Governor for Strategy and Information Technology Thatchanath Thongprakob, National Sports Development Fund Manager Tanukiart Janchum, SAT executives, and Udon Thani provincial executives at Udon Thani Provincial Stadium on November 2, 2026.

Deputy PM Songsak stated that the current government prioritizes systematic sports development across policy, management, and resource utilization for maximum benefit. He urged SAT, the National Sports Development Fund, and related agencies to collaborate closely to expand sports opportunities for children, youth, and the public in various forms, comprising four key areas: 1. Creating opportunities for youth to showcase potential by accelerating the Prime Minister's Youth Cup as an open, accessible national competition platform to promote sports skills, discipline, and excellence. 2. Distributing quality sports equipment widely, ensuring age-appropriate and locally suitable gear while promoting proper maintenance and sustainable use. 3. Developing and upgrading regional sports facilities by systematically surveying and prioritizing needs with attention to safety, usage standards, and budget efficiency, coordinating across sectors to make sports venues safe public spaces for training, competition, and exercise. 4. Using sports as a force for happiness and social unity by promoting community sports activities, including in vulnerable and border areas, using sports as a medium to build friendship, understanding, and peaceful coexistence.

He emphasized that successful implementation requires cooperation from all sectors — government, private sector, educational institutions, sports associations, and communities — with clear targets, transparent budgets, and continuous monitoring. He thanked SAT, the National Sports Development Fund, Udon Thani province, and all agencies for their support, calling for continued collaboration to expand sports opportunities, develop youth potential, promote public health, and make Thailand's sports facilities sustainable public resources.

SAT Governor Prodpran Sumanmit stated that SAT's core mission is to promote, support, and develop national sports for success at national and international levels, including developing standardized sports facilities for competitions and public exercise.
